Not a lot of people know that 1738 was a momentous year for the English picnic...

This was the year the London department store Fortnum & Mason invented the Scotch egg (you’ll never be stuck for a conversation opener again!). And we haven't looked back since.

There really is no better way to enjoy a summer's day than on a picnic with friends and family. And we can supply you with all the essentials you need for a fun day out - fabulous wicker picnic hampers complete with crockery, cutlery and glasses, comfortable chairs, folding tables and portable barbecues.

The only thing we can't help you with is the British weather...!

Oh yes, don't forget the talc. Apparently, if you sprinkle it around your picnic blanket it’ll keep the ants at bay. Forget sand in your sandwiches – there’s nothing worse than talc in your tortillas!
