Over at Decorated Shed we offer energy efficient garden buildings designed to your specification which can include under-floor heating, traditional heating or a wood burning stove. Our buildings are all green built and we greatly take in to consideration carbon offset and the effects certain factors can have on the environment.

Our holiday home annexes are increasingly popular at the moment with summer upon us. They are built with exactly the same insulation and materials as our garden buildings in the UK. With holiday homes abroad, air conditioning and even cold weather needs to be taken into consideration.

Our Barn design which has a ground floor with a mezzanine second level has been our most popular holiday home design, but as we design to your specification we can create whatever holiday home you have in mind as long as there is space and it meets planning permission needs. The Barn design is the most popular for granny annexes here in the UK – but because we design to your specific requirements we create different buildings for each client.

With more and more people working longer hours and spending hours on the bus, train or in the car computing to and from work our time for leisure activities is rapidly decreasing. Even when you get home from a hard day’s work the last thing you want to do is get back in the car to go to a gym to work out. Doing activities outdoors closer to home are unfortunately heavily weather dependent and unfortunately in the UK the chances of you being enticed outdoors by the weather are pretty slim!

A simple solution for those of you wanting to get fit but struggle to find the time to go to the gym is to bring the gym to you instead. Why not consider using a summerhouse or log cabin at the bottom of your garden to workout in. Whether you are looking for a yoga room, a gym or simply a room to do aerobic workouts a log cabin can offer the perfect retreat that is literally on your doorstep.

Not only will you save time, you can work out to the music of your choice as well as never having to wait for a piece of equipment to become available. Most people who take a plunge and build their own garden gym find that they work out more often and feel far less pressured than if they were working out in a busy gym environment.

When you think of how much gym membership costs each month you’ll more than likely end up financially better off in the long run!

If you are considering building a gym in your garden do spend time thinking about what equipment you will need to have space for as well as how much of your garden you can comfortably allocate to a timber building. For activities such as yoga or Pilates you need very little space and a small summerhouse or log cabin will sufficiently give you all the room you require. Do remember if you are planning to put a treadmill or cross trainer into your new garden building make sure that you allow plenty of additional headroom so that you can comfortably work out on raised pieces of equipment.

For a wide range of garden buildings including summerhouses, log cabins and workshops visit Jacks Garden Store.

Good luck

Summerhouses and gazebo’s are both wonderful timber structures that can look fabulous in your garden. Not only do they both create a wonderful focal point but they also off a sheltered spot to sit relax and enjoy the views across your garden. However there are a couple of differences between the two types of garden building.

What is a gazebo?
A gazebo is a timber garden building with a roof that provides shelter and shade. A gazebo is not a completely enclosed garden building. Some gazebos have no side panels whilst others have half panelling or completely panelled sides on part of the structure. You can choose how you would want the sides of your gazebo to be depending on the level of enclosure and shelter you are after. Many gazebos are available with trellis panelling so that you can train plants to grow up and around the structure. A gazebo unlike a summerhouse will not have a door or any fitted windows.

What is a Summerhouse?
Put simply a summerhouse is a more attractive shed! A summerhouse is a wooden structure that has a complete roof, sides and doors at the point of entry. Most summerhouses have plenty windows to allow light to flood into the garden building.

One main difference between sitting inside a summerhouse and sitting inside a gazebo is that once inside a summerhouse you will feel as though you are indoors whilst you will always feel as though you are outdoors in a gazebo.

A summerhouse enables you to enjoy your garden even in the colder months when it would be too cold to simply sit outdoors exposed to the elements. Whilst a gazebo offers a more relaxing and spacious outdoors seating area which is more pleasant during the hotter summer months.

Think carefully about what type of timber building you are after, when you are planning to use it and the space you have for it in your garden. If you have a large garden why not buy both to allow you to sit out and enjoy your garden almost all of the year round!

Today there are is a huge variety of summerhouses and gazebos available, both are pretty similar in price and both become more expensive as you increase the size and the quality of your outdoor timber structure.

Visit Jacks Garden Store where you will find a superb selection of gazebos and summerhouses available at great prices and with free delivery!

Good luck

Have you ever stomped from one room to the next in your home looking for a tranquil place to sit and unwind for a meager 15 minutes?

As your family grows you will inevitably feel your house shrink. Computer games and music will bellow from your children’s bedrooms. Dogs will bark and your partner will watch television at an unreasonable volume level. Before you explode consider a summerhouse as the perfect solution!

A summerhouse in your garden offers a unique idyllic escape from the chaos of everyday life and you need only walk down your garden path to find it! There are a wide range of sizes available from small to much larger living spaces that could be shared with others if you are feeling generous. Traditional summerhouses are rectangular and have plenty of windows allowing light to flood into your living space. You can purchase corner summer houses if your garden is small and space is scarce. Octagonal summerhouses are also available and look rather impressive in any garden.

Depending on your budget you can buy a small basic summerhouse at a reasonable price, and as your budget increases so does the size of the summerhouse. Other benefits also become available when you are prepared to spend a little more such as insulation thus meaning that you can spend time in your summerhouse all year round.

Style
Each summerhouse generally has two windowed double doors allowing easy access and plenty of windows on the front walls to allow light to flood in.Many are available with roofs that slightly overhang offering shelter and shade when you want to sit outdoors. You can purchase a summerhouse with a verandah if your garden is large enough to accommodate one. Think carefully about what space you have available, if you buy a summerhouse that is too big for your garden it will look out of place and rather overbearing!
On the other hand taking the time to buy the right size will benefit the overall appearance of your garden and add to it’s charm.

Instead of you using the summerhouse as a retreat the alternative is to turn it into a games room for your children and allow them to play their music, computer games ad guitars at the bottom end of your garden to their hearts content. This allows you to reinstall tranquility into your home and peace and quiet.

Buying a summerhouse is the cheapest way of increasing the living space in your home, at Jack’s Garden Store there is a wide range of summerhouses available online to purchase check out our fantastic range of garden buildings.

I also have compiled so further information on summerhouses which you should read before you buy a summerhouse.

Good luck
